About this event

Meet renowned wildlife and crocodilian expert Frank "Alligator Robb"

Frank Robb—widely known as “Alligator Robb”—is a renowned wildlife and crocodilian expert from Florida’s Space Coast. He serves as President of Environmental Education Awareness Research Support and Services (EEARSS.ORG ), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that champions environmental education, biodiversity studies, and cutting-edge cancer research focused on environmental toxicology. He is best known in Chicago for safely capturing “Chance the Snapper,” the alligator that made national headlines after appearing in a Humboldt Park lagoon.

Come meet Frank and learn how, in partnership with the Wise Laboratory of Environmental and Genetic Toxicology at the University of Louisville, he is conducting field research along Florida’s Space Coast, capturing and testing alligators to assess how environmental exposures are impacting both animal and human health.

Scientists, researchers, and collections managers are behind the scenes every day, uncovering new information and taking care of our collection.

During Meet a Scientist, you can find them in the Grainger Science Hub. They'll discuss their work and share real items from the museum’s collection of nearly 40 million objects. From collections care to field work, and dinosaurs to ecology, there’s a world of science to explore.

Visit the Science Hub on select weekdays for an up-close look at what our researchers do every day.
